Speaker Bio: Tara Jegla is the founder and Executive Director of The Village Flower Farm and Community Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to empowering at-risk youth in Lansing. Through her organization, she teaches personal and professional leadership skills while spreading kindness by donating flowers to community service organizations.
With over 15 years of experience in Healthcare Operations and Clinical Quality Improvement Leadership, Tara has led national initiatives to enhance healthcare quality and equity. Her passion for cut flower gardening, combined with her commitment to improving the well-being of others, naturally led her to create a nonprofit that blends leadership development with community impact.
The idea for The Village Flower Farm and Community Center began with a simple knock on the door—local teens looking for yard work. Recognizing their potential as emerging leaders and the joy her flowers could bring to the community, Tara saw an opportunity to create something meaningful. What started as a small act of generosity has now blossomed into a thriving nonprofit.
Three years later, The Village Flower Farm and Community Center operates three programs serving local youth and the broader community. This year, the organization plans to donate over 600 bouquets and guide six teens through a 12-month Leadership Development Program, which includes a Becoming Athena Leadership Certification facilitated by Tara.
